The Ultimate Guide to Hosting Christmas Drinks

Christmas hosting sounds lovely in theory.

Until you're cooking for 14 people, someone has forgotten the ice, three people want different drinks and you've somehow spent the entire evening behind the bar.

This year, we're keeping things simple.

Here's how to host Christmas drinks without missing your own party.

1. Start with a proper welcome drink

Give guests something to drink as soon as they arrive.

A margarita might not be the most obvious Christmas cocktail.

Which is exactly why we like it.

A Spicy Margarita makes a brilliant festive serve, particularly with a Tajín rim and a chilli garnish.

2. Keep the drinks simple

Christmas is busy enough.

You don't need a cocktail menu that requires a spreadsheet.

Choose one or two cocktails and make them really well.

For example:

🌶️ Spicy Margarita
🍊 Grapefruit Margarita
🍋 Margarita

Then have wine, beer and soft drinks available for anyone who wants something different.

3. Make cocktails for a crowd

If you're hosting lots of people, pre-mixed cocktails are your best friend.

Our 5L Bag-in-Box serves around 50 margaritas, so it's perfect for Christmas parties where you want cocktails available without someone having to shake every single drink individually.

Chill.

Pour.

Ice.

Done.

4. Create a Christmas drinks station

Give your drinks their own little moment.

Add:

  • Pimentae
  • Glassware
  • Ice bucket
  • Limes
  • Tajín
  • Garnishes
  • Festive napkins

Add some Christmas foliage or fairy lights and suddenly your drinks station is part of the table styling.

5. Don't forget the food

Christmas drinks need Christmas snacks.

Go big on sharing food:

  • Cheese boards
  • Charcuterie
  • Pigs in blankets
  • Mini sausage rolls
  • Crisps
  • Dips
  • Prawns
  • Tacos
  • Mince pies

Our only rule:

Make sure there's enough.

6. Keep cans in the fridge

For the moments when people are moving around, chatting or helping themselves to food, cans are ideal.

No mixing.

No measuring.

No waiting.

Just grab one from the fridge.

7. Plan your Christmas party around the moments

You don't need to host a formal dinner to make it feel special.

Try:

3pm: Guests arrive + welcome drinks
4pm: Snacks + Christmas playlist
6pm: Dinner
8pm: Games / presents
9pm: Margaritas + music
10pm onwards: See where the night takes you

The best Christmas parties are usually the ones where the schedule stops mattering after about 8pm.

8. Enjoy your own party

This is the most important bit.

Prepare as much as you can beforehand.

Put the drinks somewhere accessible.

Make the food easy to serve.

And don't spend the whole night checking whether everyone has enough.

They'll tell you.

Christmas hosting, made easy.
